It’s been a busy Easter here at Hydrawise. Our latest controller dashboard update is now available to all customers (no upgrade required – just log in). Some of the features are listed below.

Support for Soil and Moisture Sensors

Our flow meter configuration section has been updated to support monitoring of soil and moisture sensors (we changed the name of this from Flow Meters to Sensors to reflect this change.

You can now create soil or moisture sensors and automatically suspend watering when these sensors are active. We support both NC (normally closed) and NO (normally open) sensors types of sensors.

Adding a sensor is easy – just wire your soil or moisture sensor to one of the 4 sensors on the new controller hardware and then create the sensor in the Sensor section of your configuration dashboard.

You can also choose which zones will use the moisture or soil sensor functionality and you can use a single sensor across multiple controllers.

Level Sensor Reporting

Our reports have also been updated to show your sensor levels.

Our level-based sensors will work with any type of contact-based sensor which is normally open or closed. For example if you had a sensor which measured low levels in your water tank you could use this to suspend watering when the level reached a low level – I’m sure you can think of other examples…

The post Dashboard updates – support for soil and moisture sensors and sensor reporting appeared first on HydraWise.

We are proud to announce the release of our second generation irrigation controller. Professional users have been at the top of our mind for the redesign. The updated controller has a number of important changes making it even easier to install and operate.

Here are some of new features -

Increased Wireless Range In our testing we’ve seen up to 30% improvement in range

Larger Termination Blocks We’ve made the wire entry for your valves twice as large as before and moved the termination point to the front to make installation easier for you

More Sensor Inputs Each unit now has 4 sensor inputs which can be used for additional flow meters, rain sensors or moisture sensors

More Mounting Options The new enclosure supports DIN or screw mounting

Backlit LCD Display Now you can install and operate our controllers in the dark!

New Keypad We’ve redesigned our keypad with discrete buttons to make it much easier to navigate around

Installation Wizard You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to get our controller working. When you power the unit up for the first time just select your local wireless router, enter your password and you’re connected! All that’s left is moving your wiring from your old controller to the new!

We are always interested in your comments (good or bad). Let us know what you think of the new design and any ways you’d like to see us improve the next version!

As the seasons around the world change so too does daylight saving in many countries.

Most states in the US have just gone off daylight saving and most irrigation controllers are now watering an hour early or late each day. As the weather changes most irrigation controllers are also putting unnecessary water on gardens.

So, most irrigation contractors are going out to their customers’ controllers and changing settings, or the home owner is attempting to do this themselves.

A Hydrawise system automatically adjusts to Daylight Saving time wherever you are in the world – no need to get to your controller to make the change.

Your Hydrawise controller is also automatically adjusting watering scheduled based on your actual weather – so as the weather warms your controller will use the forecast conditions for the day to determine if more watering is required. Alternatively, as rainfall increases your controller is able to suspend watering based on actual rainfall measured by our network of weather stations worldwide.

The post Daylight saving is here appeared first on HydraWise.

Australians will remember Don Burke from Burke’s Backyard. For those from other countries Don had a weekly TV gardening program which was watched by millions of Australians each week.

The TV program ended a few years ago but the Burke’s Backyard Magazine continues with tips and tricks for gardeners. This month Hydrawise is featured in the Practical Gardening tip section.

Hydrawise’s innovative features captured the eye of the magazine. The article is about people who have gardens in holiday homes and want to be able to keep an eye on their watering remotely.

Our remote control features allow you to take control of your irrigation from anywhere that you have internet access using one of our smart phone apps (both iPhone and Android) or using a web browser.

We have many customers around the world using their Hydrawise controller in this way. Many also use one of our flow meters to monitor water usage whilst they’re away. This has the added benefit of notifying them when they have a broken pipe or faulty solenoid wiring.

The post Burke’s Backyard appeared first on HydraWise.

HydraWise is proud to announce that it has won the Outside Design Source New Product award at the 2011 Australian Landscape Expo held at the Melbourne Royal Exhibition Buildings on 1-2 September!

The award was judged by leading industry professionals from Landscape Victoria and the Nursery & Garden Industry of Victoria.

Over 30 new products were in the running and judging was based on a points system – HydraWise was the clear winner!

The judges described the HydraWise controller as the next generation in irrigation controllers with a simple interface combined with powerful features such as remote control and automatic schedule adjustments.

HydraWise irrigation controllers are fully configurable via the HydraWise website using a web browser or smart phone. With access to over 33,000 personal weather stations around the world, watering times are automatically adjusted based on local temperature and rainfall. This allows for water savings when it rains and extra watering in hot conditions. Multiple controllers can be managed from the same account and are suitable for commercial users such as landscape management companies, schools, councils, universities and landscape designers or home users.

HydraWise Director, Cameron Ryan said “Ease of use and full remote control were our primary design considerations and it’s great that this was recognised by the judges”.

Check out all the features or just try it now and see what all the fuss is about.

Trials are free and you can do everything that you could as if you had a HydraWise controller in your backyard (except for the actual watering bit of course).

The post Winner Landscape Australia Best New Product appeared first on HydraWise.
